- Tell us a little about yourself
I am a software engineer from Colombia who enjoys board games, fantasy, sci-fi, and nature. I have practiced several sports and currently keep a bow to occasionally practice archery.
- What initially attracted you to engineering, and how have you found inspiration in this career?
A career in engineering is a journey of knowledge and discovery. The process of experimenting and devising solutions is incredibly captivating. I believe technology should be synonymous with helpfulness and liberation. Digital technologies, in particular, can remarkably reduce workload and simplify tasks, regardless of the job or its location.
- What innovation or technical advancement have you been a part of that you consider to have made a milestone in your engineering field?
I have mostly worked with startups and emerging companies, and all wanted to provide users more information and higher-quality services. My favorite so far allows the renters to achieve a rent agreement and home insurance without relying on a third person. This is critically important as housing is a vital need, but it also increases the efficiency of the renting flow for all involved actors.
- What made you choose Mismo?
I was fortunate to be reached by Mismo to continue working with health-related companies. The people from Mismo have always been a joy to work with, talk with, and share with. - How would you describe the work environment at Mismo?
As one of the few remote workers, Mismo strives to include everyone as a group, and the working teams are extremely responsive. I can ensure that no matter which channel you post a message, an answer will follow soon.
- What learning and development opportunities have you had at Mismo and how have you utilized these opportunities to grow as a professional?
The organization as a whole is open to helping develop, they are constantly looking for opportunities to provide access to learning platforms and resources, but if you are interested in more formal education, the company will support your decision and shape schedules and responsibilities to suit such education paths.
- What aspects of working at Mismo’s engineering team make you proud and motivate you in your daily tasks?
The colleagues are warm and intelligent, which is sometimes a rare encounter; collaborating with such great people is awesome.
- How do you believe the company and engineering can positively impact the world and people’s lives and make a difference in their respective industries?
Nowadays technology is pervasive and inherent to human endeavor, there is no path forward without technology.
- What Mismo policies or practices have helped you improve your work-life balance?
As usual, not all policies apply to all people since we have different circumstances. I mostly work from remote locations, which allows me great flexibility to organize my daily schedule.
- What inspiring advice would you give someone considering a career in engineering or looking to join a company like Mismo?
It is worth it; you will meet great people and apply awesome technologies.
- What tools or technologies do you use most frequently in your daily work as an engineer at Mismo?
I mainly work with Python, using it in diverse ways such as web development, data processing, and automation. The combination of Python with cloud capabilities creates a truly formidable force.
