- Tell us a little about yourself: I’m a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings, science fiction books, and ’70s progressive rock. I love hiking and traveling with my wife and our two golden retrievers. Creating and producing music is one of my biggest passions, and I’m especially fond of extended-range guitars and fretless basses.
- What initially attracted you to engineering and how have you found inspiration in this career? Curiosity has always been my driving force. As a little boy, I was the kind of kid who would take his toys apart just to understand how they worked. That curiosity led me to study Electronics Engineering before eventually transitioning into QA, which, to be honest, I find much more interesting and fun!
- What innovation or technical advancement have you been a part of that you consider to have made a milestone in your engineering field? One of the most significant milestones in my career was implementing automated testing and introducing a validation framework into our QA pipeline. At the time, the team relied entirely on output reports for validation. These improvements helped us establish a more effective regression testing process and deliver a more reliable product.
- What made you choose Mismo? What I value most is the work-life balance. I’ve worked at companies where that balance wasn’t respected, but at Mismo, I experienced it from day one.
- How would you describe the work environment at Mismo? The people are outstanding and always willing to lend a hand. There’s also a positive, healthy work environment where everyone supports one another, without egos getting in the way.
- What learning and development opportunities have you had at Mismo and how have you utilized these opportunities to grow as a professional? Definitely, taking ownership of a project. I’m now responsible for the entire QA process, from start to finish. While I was already familiar with the process, taking that next step by proactively suggesting improvements and new workflows has been a significant milestone in my professional growth.
- What aspects of working at Mismo’s engineering team make you proud and motivate you in your daily tasks? Being involved in developing new features and working with new technologies is something I really enjoy. It’s also rewarding to know that my work and experience contribute to improving overall quality.
- How do you believe the company and engineering can positively impact the world, people’s lives, and make a difference in their respective industries? I believe engineering, at its core, is about solving problems that address real human needs. When we build stable, scalable, and intuitive software, we directly improve the daily lives of end users by saving them time, reducing friction, and making information more accessible. At Mismo, we amplify this impact by connecting global innovation with diverse talent across Latin America. By demonstrating that world-class engineering can happen from anywhere, we’re not just transforming how software is built—we’re also making a positive impact on communities by creating opportunities for professional growth throughout the region.
- What Mismo policies or practices have helped you improve your work-life balance? The absence of micromanagement and the trust placed in us to work autonomously and take ownership of our projects.
- What inspiring advice would you give to someone considering a career in engineering or looking to join a company like Mismo? Personally, I love challenges. They’ve shaped the professional I am today and will continue to help me grow and improve throughout my career. With that in mind, the best advice I can offer is to never be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes teach us to be more thoughtful and careful, but they also remind us of an important lesson: we often learn far more from our failures than we do from the times when everything goes right.
- What tools or technologies do you use most frequently in your daily work as an engineer at Mismo? Since my work focuses heavily on test automation, I use Cypress every day, along with Docker. I also work with React, primarily by reviewing code to identify locators or adding them when needed, rather than writing code from scratch. At TextUs, the company I work with, AI plays an important role in our workflows, so I also use Claude regularly.
