I’m Mary Alvarez, a Quality Assurance Engineer with a passion for ensuring software reliability, performance, and a seamless user experience. At Mismo, I focus on implementing robust testing frameworks, automated QA processes, and continuous integration practices to help deliver high-quality products. - What initially attracted you to engineering and how have you found inspiration in this career?
I was drawn to engineering by a natural curiosity for problem-solving and a desire to understand how complex systems work under the hood. In QA engineering, I find inspiration in advocating for the end user—identifying edge cases, preventing issues before they reach production, and collaborating across teams to deliver seamless software experiences. - What innovation or technical advancement have you been a part of that you consider to have made a milestone in your engineering field?
During my time as a QA Engineer, one of my major milestones has been leading the integration of automated end-to-end (E2E) regression testing pipelines directly into CI/CD workflows. Transitioning client projects from manual testing to automated, scalable test suites significantly reduced release cycle times and increased confidence in software delivery. - What made you choose Mismo?

Transitioning to my second project allowed me to broaden my experience across new tech stacks, industry domains, and testing frameworks, making me a more versatile QA Engineer. - What is your personal vision of a future where gender equity is a reality in all organizations, including Mismo?
My vision is an engineering landscape where women are equally represented in technical leadership and architectural decision-making roles. Embrace continuous learning, and never be afraid to ask questions. Technology evolves rapidly, so adaptability is one of your greatest assets. In QA especially, cultivating a mindset of curiosity and user advocacy can make all the difference. - What tools or technologies do you use most frequently in your daily work as an engineer at Mismo?
I frequently use test automation and management tools such as Playwright and JavaScript, Postman for API testing, Jira for issue tracking, Git and GitHub for version control, and CI/CD tools and practices. On top of all of these, AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT have become an important part of my workflow.
